The Heart Board Tea Time with peaches and cream tea

These days our family is busier and busier. Finding time to sit down each weekend with the girls and still have "Tea Time" has been a challenge, but when God's in charge, really cool things happen. I was praying to Him that I felt like I was in a Tea Time funk, and I wasn't sure if I was still supposed to write the Tea Time devotional book, and God basically said stop being lazy and write out a few good ideas. I did. Here's what happened....

This weekend we created The Heart Board Tea Time!!

Some of you have done a "Dream Board". I like them, my kids have done them, but they can be worldly if you or your kids get too focused on tangibles like cars or clothes or food, etc. So, we decided to make a Heart Board this week during tea time. The only things allowed on our heart board are pictures that remind us of spiritual truths, family members, God's creation, good, noble, righteous things, God's word, etc. I wanted the girls to have a visual of the things God wants to see in our hearts (and on our minds). A good, pure heart isn't an easy thing to cultivate in a little girl, but with God's help and by spending a little bit of time communicating with our daughters, we can set the stage in their hearts for purity, righteousness, and goodness.

Featured verse:
Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119:11

Plus, the girls had a lot of fun with the crafty part of this, and then they had something new and pretty to hang on their walls.

PLUS we created a new tea and tea time snack to go with our Heart Boards:

Peaches and Cream Tea: Brew a cup of Celestial Seasonings Peach tea. Add 1 packet of stevia blend. Let it sit so it's not too hot. Prep two small glasses half full with ice. Pour half the tea into each glass. Top with a dash of unsweetened almond milk. give the kids a straw and let them swirl it.

Cinnamon and Sugar Popcorn: Now this popcorn was surprisingly simple and yum. Just pop a bag of natural popcorn with low butter and low salt. Pour into big bowl for lots of room to stir. Sprinkle with two packets of stevia or other natural sweetener. Sprinkle with 1 tsp cinnamon. Let the kids stir it up then divide into small bowls. Keep the big bowl on the table for easy seconds!
